What is RIC hearing Aid Wax Guards
RIC (Receiver-in-Canal) hearing aid wax guards are small filters designed to protect the hearing aid’s receiver from earwax, moisture, and debris.
Since RIC hearing Aids have a speaker (receiver) positioned directly in the ear canal, they are more prone to earwax buildup, which can clog the speaker and degrade sound quality.
Purpose of Wax Guards in RIC hearing Aids:
- Protection: Wax guards prevent earwax from entering the receiver and causing blockages, which could damage the hearing aid or diminish sound quality.
- Maintaining Sound Quality: By keeping the receiver clear of wax, the hearing aid can deliver sound more effectively without distortion or interruptions.
- Prolonging Device Life: Wax can be corrosive and damaging over time, so guards help extend the life of the hearing aid.
How They Work:
- The wax guard is a replaceable filter that fits over or inside the hearing aid’s receiver.
- They need to be replaced periodically, usually every few weeks, depending on wax buildup.
Replacing the Wax Guard:
- Remove the old wax guard using a special tool (provided with the guard set).
- Insert a new one to ensure optimal performance.
