How adapting to your hearing aid?

Adapting Hearing Aids

If you use Hearing Aids for the first time, you will need about 4 weeks of rehabilitation and adaptation.

This usually takes at least 4 weeks for your brain to get used to its missing sounds. Everyone is different, and how they adapt to Hearing Aids will vary.

You can refer to the following suggestions:

  • The first week of wearing a hearing aid
You can listen to a variety of familiar sounds in a relatively quiet environment, such as at home. Such as the sound of clocks, the sound of running water… It is recommended that the wearing time should not be too long, 1-2 hours a day. If you encounter a voice that you cannot hear clearly, please don’t be discouraged, please keep listening.
  • The second week of wearing hearing aids
You can walk in the community park, the long-lost sound is exciting, or it will be clearer than before. At this time, it is recommended that you wear it for 3-4 hours a day.
  • The third week of wearing hearing aids
When entering a public place, adjust the volume to your volume first. You can try to chat with your neighbors, but the time should not be too long. It is recommended to have about 5-6 hours a day.
  • The fourth week of wearing hearing aids
You can walk in the community park, the long-lost sound is exciting, or it will be clearer than before. At this time, it is recommended that you wear it for 3-4 hours a day.

Many hearing experts recommend listening to books on tape as a way to practice listening and comprehension. During the first few weeks, if you are too tired, take a break. Then try again. Seek support and stick with it. The rewards are huge.
